Whites : Gewürztraminer

Vinoptima Gewürztraminer 2003
Gisborne, New Zealand

100% Gewürztraminer

Tasting Notes: Golden in colour and exhibits luscious aromas of lychees, melon fruits and scented honey. On the fore-palate the wine displays immense fruit sweetness yet the finish is quite dry, almost bordering on being bitter. The texture is full and round in the mid palate, and the apparent bitterness dissolves in the after taste into the most complex and exotic array of tropical fruit flavours, accentuated by pineapple and mandarin orange. The fruit flavours are perfectly balanced with delicate spicy accents of nutmeg and vanilla.

Serving Suggestions: Exotic food dishes, including Southeast Asian and Indian cuisine, lightly spiced Pacific Rim fusion food, pork, seafood, poultry and char-grilled vegetables and the traditional foie gras and melba toast. It can also be enjoyed with light fruity deserts. It is also an excellent aperitif.
